Bethany's mom Marcy helps her get Stormy ready.
Sebastian and Stormy get along very well. They called to each other at different times during the day.  Stormy wears a red ribbon to warn other riders that she will kick their horses if they get too close.

Sasha is very nervous but she does her best.
Sasha is competing in "equitation" pleasure and pleasure/hack.  Walk, trot, canter first year all seats.  Pleasure/hack is judged on the horses ability to follow the riders commands on cue. Pleasure  is judged on the horses gaits and how he rides.  Equitation is judged on the riders skills and the ability to ride correctly. The rider should always be in balance, possess a comanding but relaxed presence and give the horse nearly invisible cues. Trail class is an obstacle course that the horses should be able to complete without faults. Sasha rode in English seat and so did Bethany.

Sebastian is still cantering too fast.

Sasha rides Sebastian around another riding ring. He was afraid of those black cowboy cut outs at first. Sasha had to walk him around them a few times until he got used to them.

While she warms up I watch the "Costume Class" I thought Sasha should have signed up for this, she could have won it.
I have lots of costumes on horseback for her!

Sasha starts in the arena. First Sebastian has to go over those poles...

Then he has to jump, and canter along...
A.H.A.M Horse Show
The course has many obstacles. It took Sebastian a few times to go between the white blocks and over that scary black mat but he did it and Sasha came in 3rd place!

The nice lady asked to borrow our horse Sebastian so her 5 year old daughter Jaqueline could compete in 2 halter class shows. Of course we said yes!

She said we made her daughter's day! She came in 6th and 4th in her classes and won two ribbons!

A.H.A.M Horse Show
It was a wonderful and pleasant day for everyone today. Bethany and her family are great to go to the show with, we hope to do it again sometime!
A.H.A.M Horse Show
Even Bethany's little sister Ashley gets in on the fun and rides Sebastian around in between classes.
Us tired moms who worked all night have to go home now, but everyone else stayed for the remainder of the day! We have to get some sleep before we go back to work tonight. It was great to come to one of Sasha's shows to give her support, even though we don't have any show experience at all!
It's more about the fun and the learning experiences for these girls than it is about winning.
Enjoy these fun photos from our day!
