Sebastian Moves To Florida

May 20, 2005 Sebastian is greeted at the barn at 6:30 am. Today is the big day, he is being relocated to Florida by East Coast Feed & Horse Transport.

Pat Thompson the transporter, walks Sebastian out of the barn.

Sebastian has not been on a trailer since last September 2004 when he was moved here. Pat is so patient with him allowing him to become familiar with the new surroundings.

Sebastian is introduced to his ride down to Florida.

He wants to smell everything first.

Looks back at us for reassurance.

Familiarizing himself with the smells of the trailer.

Pat admires Sebastian's soft and silky tail.

Her helper coaxes him on the truck with hay.

Sebastian, put in and set to ride.

He enjoys his hay bag and is quiet and calm.

There he goes! He's off to his new home.

Sebastian has fine weather for his trip. Pat checks on him each routine stop.  With a 3 hour delay on the highway, Pat reaches Virginia around 8:30 pm where Sebastian is then walked around, watered and checked. He is then handed over to her good friend Tee who has driven up from Florida to switch horses with Pat. Sebastian is then loaded onto Tee's trailer and allowed to ride freely in the back of his truck the remainder of the way to Florida.  Tee will drive all night and reach the desitnation in Florida a little before noon the next day! Jyllene, our niece is there to meet him and he is in excellent condition! She takes care of Sebastian once he is off the truck. She waters & feeds him and makes him feel welcomed.  Later she gives him a cool bath as the temperature in Florida is in the high 90's compared to the cool weather that was in the low 50's in Massachusetts. Sebastian has found his new home on a 300 acre ranch.

The next day May 21, 2005 Sebastian's first day on the farm. He runs with his new friends.

Jyllene allows the horses to run free around the arena. Sebastian is now friends with her horse Tripoli the chestnut and also  his new girlfriend Maggie the white Mustang.

Sebastian takes the lead.

Tripoli, Jyllene's horse likes his new friend Sebastian.

Sebastian grazes on hay in the shade. Jyllene is doing a great job taking care of him.

July 27, 2006 Sebastian has lived in Florida for over a year. He's lived at three different stables and enjoyed all the warm weather. Now we are ready to bring him back home to Massachusetts where Sasha will ride him again! Lorraine's Horse Transportation drive over from Ocala to pick him up and bring him back to their stable for the night so they can have him all ready to leave bright and early tomorrow morning.

Sasha gets Sebastian ready to head home to Massachusetts today.

Sasha introduces Sebastian to the trailer.

He smells everything for the first time.

He checks it all out.

He's hesitant so Sasha hands it over to the professional mover, Danny.

With a little pat on his backside from Jyllene, he goes right on.

It's a really nice truck with lots of space and fresh hay.

Sasha goes in the stall with him to settle him in.

Sasha takes the lead line off.

Then Dan stats to get things ready for the haul.

We say our goodbyes and his off for a 4 hour ride across the state! See you in Massachuetts Sebastian!
